Liquorice root, which is considered one of the world’s oldest herbal remedies, comes from the root of the liquorice plant. Licorice or Liquorice is widely used as a sweetener in various desserts and confectioneries is a wonder root known for its amazing medicinal properties for several centuries. The root is native to Asia and Europe and is known as Mulethi in Hindi or Athimadhuram in various parts of India, meaning ‘very sweet’. Botanically named as Glycyrrhiza glabra or Glyceria Glabra, liquorice is a must have in the winters for helping against cold and dry cough.
